My Island Peak Summit Expedition 2025 – A Journey of Perseverance & Teamwork
- 2025-04-16
Climbing Island Peak (6,189m) was a dream come true, and thanks to the incredible team at Everest Sherpa Expedition (ESE), it became a reality. From arriving in Nepal to the final summit push, ESE provided outstanding support, expert guidance, and a well-organized expedition that made my climb safe, enjoyable, and successful.
Before booking, I researched several companies, but ESE stood out for their professionalism, experienced Sherpa team, and excellent reviews. Their attention to detail, from pre-trip preparations to on-mountain logistics, gave me confidence that I was in good hands.
The Expedition – A Well-Managed Adventure
1. Kathmandu & Lukla – The Journey Begins
The adventure started in Kathmandu, where the ESE team briefed us on the itinerary, gear checks, and safety protocols. The next day, we flew to Lukla—a thrilling experience—and began our trek through the stunning Khumbu Valley.
2. Trekking to Island Peak Base Camp
The trek to Island Peak Base Camp was a beautiful acclimatization journey, passing through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche. ESE ensured we had comfortable teahouse stays, delicious meals, and proper rest days to adjust to the altitude.
3. Base Camp & Training – Well-Prepared for the Climb
Upon reaching Island Peak Base Camp (5,087m), I was impressed by how well ESE managed the camp. The tents were spacious, the food was excellent, and the Sherpa team was always supportive.
Before the summit push, we underwent ice and rock climbing training near the base camp. The guides taught us essential techniques like fixed rope climbing, crampon use, and crevasse rescue—crucial skills for summit day.
4. Summit Day – A Challenging Yet Rewarding Climb
Summit day began around 1 AM under a sky full of stars. With headlamps lighting the way, we navigated the glacier, steep snow slopes, and the famous ice wall just before the summit.
The ESE Sherpa team was phenomenal—constantly encouraging, monitoring our pace, and ensuring safety. Their expertise made all the difference, especially during the technical sections.
Reaching the summit (6,189m) at sunrise was an unforgettable moment. The panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Ama Dablam were breathtaking.
5. A Safe & Successful Descent
After celebrating at the top, we carefully descended back to base camp. ESE ensured we had enough rest before continuing our trek back to Lukla.
Climbing Island Peak with Everest Sherpa Expedition (ESE) was an experience of a lifetime. Their professionalism, Sherpa expertise, and well-managed expedition made my journey smooth and enjoyable. If you’re planning to climb Island Peak, I highly recommend ESE for a safe, successful, and memorable adventure.
