The Everest Base Camp Trek is a remarkable adventure into the heart of the Himalayas, a region shared by Nepal, Tibet, India, and Bhutan, that blends breathtaking scenery, cultural discovery, and personal challenge. You'll follow in the footsteps of legendary climbers, trekking through stunning landscapes and immersing yourself in the rich culture and traditions of the resilient Sherpa people, whose lives these mountains have shaped. More than just an adventure, the EBC trek tests your endurance, forges a deep connection with nature, and uncovers the rich history of Everest exploration.

Your 15-day EBC trek begins with a thrilling flight to Lukla (2,860 m), the gateway to the Khumbu. From the plane, you might catch a first glimpse of Everest (8,849 m) and other Himalayan giants. The adventure truly starts here.

Following the rushing Dudh Koshi River, the trail winds through picturesque villages and bustling teahouse while a continuous flow of goods being transported up and down the mountains by porters, yaks, and donkeys offers glimpses into the life of the mountain’s inhabitants. The river's constant roar becomes a soothing soundtrack as we trek, leading us to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), the vibrant heart of the Sherpa people. Here, nestled on a hillside, we'll spend two nights acclimatizing, exploring the bustling market, visiting local monasteries, and soaking in the incredible views. The surrounding forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron are home to langur monkeys and various bird species.

From Namche, the landscape transforms dramatically. Lush green forests give way to alpine meadows and rugged terrain. We trek through rhododendron forests, their vibrant blooms adding splashes of color to the hillsides. A highlight is a visit to the Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual center perched high on a ridge with panoramic views of Everest and Ama Dablam.

Continuing our journey, the turquoise waters of the Imja Khola join us, carving a path through the valley. We'll reach Dingboche (4,410 m), where another two nights of acclimatization await, including a rewarding hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,100 m). Here, amidst the alpine meadows and rocky terrain, you might encounter Himalayan thar and snow partridges.

The high-altitude terrain now surrounds us as we continue towards Lobuche and finally Gorak Shep (5,164 m), the last settlement before base camp. From here, the culmination of our trek is within reach: Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). Standing at the foot of Everest, surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers, is an unforgettable and humbling experience. We'll also ascend Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for a breathtaking sunrise panorama of Everest and the entire Himalayan range.

Our EBC trek concludes with a descent back to Lukla, carrying with us memories of a lifetime. We bid farewell to the mountains and the Sherpa people, knowing we'll carry the spirit of the Himalayas within us.

Permits for EBC Trek in Nepal

The Government of Nepal has a rule in place to keep the beauty around Mt. Everest and the other Himalayan Mountains safe. To visit these places, you need special permits.

Just like other national parks in Nepal, you need a permit for the Sagarmatha National Park too. When you compare the cost of these permits to the overall cost of your trip to Nepal and the Everest Region, you'll see that it's not a big amount. This small fee helps take care of the wonderful area with its snow, forests, ice, pastures, and culture.

A long time ago, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay made the Khumbu area famous. But since then, many climbers and trekkers have come to enjoy the beauty of places like Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Goyko Lakes, and more. We want to make sure that this place remains just as beautiful for the people who come here in the future and for the people who live here in Nepal.

For the Mount EBC Trek, you need two types of permits:

Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit: This costs NPR 2000 per person.

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: This costs NPR 3000 per person.

These permits are important for the trek, and we will take care of getting them for you. It's all part of making sure you have a wonderful and safe adventure while keeping this incredible place beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

The Trekking Day

The day usually begins between 6.30 am and 7.30 am, with breakfast. During breakfast, the crew members make up the loads for the porters. You often start hiking by 7:30 am, though we wait for the sun to warm the air at higher altitudes.

The pace for the day is set at a lower speed. Instead, you will have time to become aware of everything around you and to enjoy it. Our guides are excellent timekeepers but cannot make you rush over the mountains!

The afternoon walk follows a similar pattern to the morning; it is often shorter, and your lodge is usually reached between 4 pm and 5 pm. There is plenty of time to relax or explore the surrounding area until the evening meal is served at about 6.30 pm. After dinner, there is time to chat, read or enjoy a game of cards with our crew. Most members are asleep by 9 pm.

We offer a highly skilled and experienced team of trekking guides, porters, support staff, cooks, and kitchen staff if required. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your safety and comfort throughout your trek. We provide high-quality camping gear, nutritious meals, and clean drinking water to keep you energized and hydrated on your trek. Our guides are knowledgeable about the local culture, flora, and fauna and will provide you with insights into the region's history and traditions. Our porters will carry your luggage, leaving you free to focus on enjoying the stunning scenery and challenging trails. We are committed to making your trekking experience memorable and enjoyable.
