Cho-Oyu, at an elevation of 8,201 meters, is the world's sixth-highest peak and a popular gateway to the world of 8,000-meter peaks. The difficulty level is about average for a mountain of that height. It has been climbed more times than any other eight-thousander, second only to Mount Everest. The fact that so many climbers have succeeded in reaching the top of Cho-Oyu is extremely inspiring. In fact, among the 8,000-meter summits, its success rate is the highest. The mountain is also special in the sense that it is majorly climbed from the North face (Tibetan side).

Cho-Oyu Expedition is a suitable stepping stone to prepare for the major high altitude demands of Everest or the more challenging 8,000-meter summits because it is technically easier than the others.

The Trekking Day

The day usually begins between 6.30 am and 7.30 am, with breakfast. During breakfast, the crew members make up the loads for the porters. You often start hiking by 7:30 am, though we wait for the sun to warm the air at higher altitudes.

The pace for the day is set at a lower speed. Instead, you will have time to become aware of everything around you and to enjoy it. Our guides are excellent timekeepers but cannot make you rush over the mountains!

The afternoon walk follows a similar pattern to the morning; it is often shorter, and your lodge is usually reached between 4 pm and 5 pm. There is plenty of time to relax or explore the surrounding area until the evening meal is served at about 6.30 pm. After dinner, there is time to chat, read or enjoy a game of cards with our crew. Most members are asleep by 9 pm.

We provide a highly experienced team of IFMGA/UIAGM guides, assistant guides if required, cook and kitchen staff, rope fixing team, and high-altitude workers. Our team is committed to ensuring your safety and satisfaction during your adventure.
