Himlung Himal, at 7126 meters is located in the Peri- Damodar range in the north-western part of Nepal Himalaya. Himlung does not share a border with China. The mountain is surrounded by Nemjung, Gyaji Kang, Himjung, Ratna Chuli, and several unnamed peaks exceeding 6000 meters.

Himlung has developed into a popular option among climbers as an ideal choice for training and preparation for 8000er. One has to trek through the banks of Marshyangdi river from Koto or via Chame. As Manang district lies in the rain shadow zone, the trek up the Himlung base camp is a different experience. The place is also famous for the sight of the rare 'Ghost of the Himalaya" - the Snow Leopard. The culture and households of natives in Nar and Phu offers a different world experience.

Himlung Himal was first climbed in 1992 by the Japanese. In 2013, a new and comparatively safer route was discovered by French Kari Kobler and team. Current normal route to the Summit is via the South-West Route.

The preparation day in Kathmandu will be used for pre-trip gear preparation. After finishing documentation and gear/ equipment preparation, the team can go for a rest at the hotel or take a stroll around the streets of Thamel and enjoy night life.

Day 03Drive to Besi Sahar 800 m (2,664 ft)

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, your shuttle to reach Besi sahar will pick you from your hotel. All you have to do is pack your bags and keep it prepared before your shuttle arrives so that it can be quickly packed up and left for Besi Sahar. It takes around five to six hours to reach Besi Sahar. You can reach the hotel and relax in your hotel room or take a tour around BesiSahar and enjoy the small market place.

Day 04Drive to Koto 2600 m (8,530 ft)

The drive to is a pure Himalayan driving experience. The road is narrow and passes along the high cliffs with the majestic sights of multiple streams, hills and mountains, valleys and hilly to mountain settlement. The drive takes at around 6-7 hours. Koto is a beautiful village at 2600 meters and is approx. 15 minutes away from Chame. Koto is the starting point of our trek.

Day 05Trek to Meta 3560 m (11,678 ft)

The group will be getting an early start after breakfast to begin the long and arduous journey from Koto to Meta. As Nar-Phu is a restricted zone, you will be required to present your permits once more, with the company handling the administration. Simply trek along the Nar-Phu Khola and take in the breathtaking landscape. Along the river, the trail climbs through thick foliage and via a number of suspension bridges. After stopping for lunch at Hulaki Odar, trekkers will continue on to a spectacular waterfall, where they'll need to make their way under the rushing currents. The route is fun and easy to follow until the final ascent after passing over Dharmashala. The final ascent of the day has a challenging series of switchbacks leading up to Meta.

Day 06Trek to Naar Gaun

After a refreshing breakfast in Meta, we’ll head north towards Naar. Naar is one of the oldest settlements of Manang and a hidden village. We’ll cross the Phu river to reach the Satek monastery first. After stopping at the monastery for a bit, we’ll climb up to Naar which is situated at approx. 4200 meters. The day might take 5-7 hours. The sight of the hidden village of Nar and the mountains, such as Pisang, and Annapurna range  is absolutely incredible. We’ll stop there for the night.

Day 07Trek to Kyang 3840 m (12,598 ft)

The trek from Naar to Kyang is adventurous. It mostly needs descending back the same route up, there is the famous Mahendra bridge en route. After descending to the Phu rover level, the route heads north-east to get to Kyang. Kyang is an absolutely amazing valley. The trail from Naar to Kyang gives breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, notably Kang Guru (6981m) and Pisang Peak (6091m). The walk winds through lovely pine and rhododendron forests and through multiple suspension bridges. Given the small distance we will be covering today, we will be stopping regularly for rest and refreshments at various vantage points along the way. This will aid in acclimatization and prepare you for future climbs at higher elevations.

Day 08Trek to Phu Gaun 4050 m (13,284 ft)

The walk from Kyang to Phu Gaun is a tough and rewarding trek that offers breathtaking scenery, and the chance to visit a lesser-known area of the Annapurna region. The terrain grows increasingly arid and rough as you ascend, with rough cliffs and snow-capped peaks in the distance. The journey from Chyakhu to Phu Gaun provides spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The trip from Chyakhu to Phu Gaun takes about 3-4 hours.

Day 09Acclimatization day at Phu

Phu is the last point before getting to the Himlung BAse Camp and thus we’ll acclimatize on this day. We’ll take good rest and make a short acclimatization hike. The best acclimatization hike is to the gurusangbo hill which is located at 4700 meters. The hilltop offers majestic views of the entire Peri-Damodar mountain range including Himlung, Nemjung, Himjung, Gyazi Khang, Ratna Chuli and so on. We’ll return back to Phu for the lunch and rest for the day.

Day 10Trek to Himlung Base Camp 4950 m (16,690 ft)

The journey from Phu Gaun to Himlung Base Camp is a strenuous one, but it is also quite rewarding and gives breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The trek from Phu Gaun to Himlung Base Camp is rated as a challenging level trek due to the altitude gain. The climb is strenuous and features some challenging ascents and descents. Because of the substantial gain in altitude, it is essential to acclimatize in the appropriate manner.

Day 11- 21Climbing Period 7126 m (20,306 ft)

Your primary goal throughout the climbing phase will be to summit the peak while also acclimatizing your body as successfully as possible. With the support of your trained high-altitude staff, you could reach the summit of the mountain in total safety and then return down. While working towards your goal, you will participate in a number of rotations that are meant to help you adjust to your new environment. Plans will be changed in accordance with the prediction to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to rest adequately on their days off.

We recover at base camp for at least two to three days before contemplating the summit ascent. We descend all the way to Base Camp in order to make the most of our time recuperating and preparing for the last ascent.

After reaching the peak, we will spend the day relaxing and celebrating our accomplishments, as well as arranging our belongings for transport back down on mules.

Day 22-25Trek back to Koto and Drive to Besisahar

After finishing the Himlung Himal expedition and making your way back down from the base camp, you can follow the same path back to Phu Gaun to make your way back home.
