Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa

Founder / Managing Director | UIAGM/IFMGA/Mountain Guide & Instructor | Author | Philanthropist

In high-altitude mountaineering, the line between an ordinary logistics operator and an elite, guide-led agency defines the safety and success of an expedition. Everest Sherpa Expedition (ESE) was founded by Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa to bridge these two worlds, bringing world-class European alpine technical standards to the world’s highest peaks.

Tshiring is one of a select group of Nepali mountaineers to hold the prestigious UIAGM/IVBV/IFMGA mountain guide certification—the highest international guiding credential on earth. A veteran with over 25 years of climbing experience, he serves as the General Secretary of the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) and a Chief Instructor at the Nepal Mountain Academy.

The Government’s Choice for Historic Missions

Because of his unrivaled technical precision, the Government of Nepal and the Nepal Army have repeatedly selected Tshiring to lead high-stakes national assignments:

  • The Everest Height Re-Measurement Expedition (2019): As Lead Climbing Guide, he successfully guided the survey team to the summit to establish the mountain's official new height of 8,848.86 meters—an achievement for which he was formally honored by the Prime Minister of Nepal.
  • The Nepal Army Clean Mountain Campaigns (2021–2024): Serving as Lead Guide in the high-risk "death zone," his teams successfully removed over 26,000 kilograms of waste from various 8,000-meter peaks. Notably, in 2024, his team executed a high-profile recovery operation on Mount Lhotse, safely retrieving the body of a fallen Czech climber from near the summit.

Pioneering Global Alpine Integration

Tshiring’s expertise spans beyond the Himalayas into the heart of the European Alps. A pioneer of the ski-mountaineering movement in Nepal, he completed rigorous technical training in Europe to become a certified ski professional, guiding technical routes on Mount Tödi and navigating the steep couloirs of the Dolomites.

Dedicated to empowering the next generation, Tshiring partnered with philanthropist Ervin Jacomet to establish a decade-long sponsorship program (2015–2025), bringing ten elite Nepali guides to Chamonix’s Vallée Blanche for advanced winter sports and glacier training, ensuring the local community operates at international parity.
